Twendly tries to show you TWitter trENDs in a friendLY way. To do that, it uses Google App Engine for its backend processing.
You're welcome to have a look around. Over time we aim to continue to improve the reporting and information shown here. At the moment you can:
- View the current trends and see how they compare for the current hour, last 4 hours, 12 hours or 24 hours.
- Analyse an individual trend to see when it was popular and when it's occured over time.
- For an individual trend occurence, access its historical last hour, 4 hours, 12 hours and 24 hours "buckets" to compare an occurence against other trends at the same time.
- Send a message to Twitter to promote Twendly and the trend you're checking out.
The best way to use Twendly and understand what it does is to read about it on our Blog, or simply follow @Twendly in Twitter.
A few terms to get your started when browsing the lists:
- Meme - A unit or element of cultural ideas. We prefer this to trends when referring to a discrete piece of information.
- Rank - We show an ordered rank where 1 is most popular.
- First Seen - When did we first discover this meme.
- Last Seen - When did we last discover this meme.
- Popularity Index - A percentage ratio of how popular a trend is. 100% means it was as popular as it could possibly be (i.e. the #1 trend on Twitter every time we sampled it)
- UTC - Universal Time Coordinate, more commonly known as GMT. All times are currently displayed in UTC, we will be implementing TimeZone support soon.
Use the lists from the navigator show the trends in the memes building. The lists here may differ from the tweets that Twendly sends. Twendly tweets the LAST hour at the top of the current hour i.e at 3pm, Twendly tweets the last hour as 2pm - 2.59pm.
The lists here show what is building for the next set of tweets, so at 3.30pm, the 1 Hour list shows the trend in memes from 3pm - 3.30pm. At 3.59pm the list should closely approximate what Twendly will tweet at 4pm.
Each list can be thought of as the most discussed meme during the time period represented by the list.
